Young entrepreneurs across Prescott Russell County are launching local businesses with support from the provincial Summer Company program.
Six new student-run businesses have launched across Prescott Russell County this spring, supported by the Ontario government's Summer Company program. The initiative provides young entrepreneurs aged 15–29 with mentorship, business training, and up to $3,000 in funding.
The 2026 cohort includes a mobile dog grooming service in Embrun, a custom woodworking shop in Hawkesbury, a social media marketing agency in Casselman, a local food delivery service in Rockland, a photography business in Russell Township, and a landscaping company in Alfred.
Beyond the economic activity generated, the program builds entrepreneurial capacity in the region and encourages young people to see Prescott Russell as a place where they can build careers and businesses. Several past participants have grown their summer ventures into full-time enterprises.
Applications for the 2027 Summer Company program will open in early spring. Interested young entrepreneurs can contact the United Counties of Prescott and Russell's economic development office for information.
